Microsoft unveils the most exciting products at Microsoft’s Surface event. Microsoft introduced three new products- The Surface 5 laptop, the Surface Pro 9 detachable 2-in-1, and the Surface Studio 2 Plus all-in-one desktop. In addition, Microsoft also introduced new accessories including a presentation controller and an Audio dock.
Microsoft also announced productivity and creativity tools including an AI-enabled Graphic design app (that helps you create invitations, graphics, digital postcards, and eye-catchy social media posts), and added Apple iCloud photos to Windows 11 and Apple Music to Xbox.
Microsoft introduced the successor to the Surface Laptop 4 at the event. But the latest Microsoft Surface 5 laptop seems nothing but refreshed version of its predecessor. The surface laptop 5 retains the same design as the surface laptop 4. The major difference in the laptop is the latest Surface 5 laptop ships with 12th Gen Intel Core processors. Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 with 12th-Gen Intel Processors
Talking about the design of the Surface Laptop 5 is very lightweight, sleek, and elegant. The laptop comes in 13.5″ and 15-inch sizes. The machine offers a 3:2 Pixelsense display with Dolby vision IQ (enables the best viewing experience with sharp contrast and vivid colors in any lighting conditions). It has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 display on a laptop with a metal keyboard finish.
Underneath, Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 is powered by a 12th-Gen Intel Core i7-1265U chipset. Microsoft claims that the Surface Laptop 5 is 50% more powerful than its predecessor- The Surface Laptop 4. It packs up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM and up to 1TB of SSD (Solid State Drive) storage. The Surface Laptop 5 comes with only Intel-powered processors. And, of course, the machine runs on Windows 11 OS out of the box.
To get rid of battery anxiety, the Surface Laptop 5 offers an all-day battery life on a single charge. Talking about ports, the Surface Laptop 5 offers a not-so-many just four ports- 1x a USB-A 3.1 port, 1x USB-C/ Thunderbolt 4 port, 1x Surface Connect port, and a headphone jack.
Surface Laptop 5 has a precision touchpad and a perfect typing keyboard with accurate key travel that offers a great typing experience. Loyal Microsoft fans expected the upgrades in the built-in webcam, but Microsoft decided to stuck with its old HD (720P) resolution webcam for the Surface Laptop 5.
The speakers are perfectly tuned with Dolby Atmos 3D spatial processing- results produce a loud and clear sound. Surface Laptop 5 comes in five color options- Sage, Sandstone, Matte Black, Platinum with Alcantara, and Platinum with metal. The 13.5″ variant weighs 1,297 grams while the 15″ variant weighs 1,545 grams.
Coming to the pricing, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 13.5″ variant retails at $999 while the 15″ variant costs $1,300. The laptop is available for purchase from October 25.
