The most popular German camera brand Leica officially unveiled the Leitz Phone 2 smartphone in the market. Leica’s specially designed smartphone offers a next-level photography experience.
Last year, Leica launched its first Leitz Phone 1 smartphone with an excellent camera last year. Now, Company announced a successor to the Leitz Phone 1. The Leica Leitz Phone 2 comes with a more improved camera and impressive specifications.
Leitz Phone 2 offers an iconic design with a silver aluminum build and non-slip knurled edges that offer a perfect grip even in wet conditions. The smartphone flaunts a 6.6-inch WUXGA+ (2730 x 1260 pixels resolution) pro-IGZO OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate, 2000 nits of brightness, and 10bit color depth. The smartphone has corning gorilla glass protection on top, making the device extremely adaptable and robust.
In terms of optics, the smartphone features a dual rear camera setup with a 47.2MP 1-inch CMOS primary camera coupled with a 1.9MP depth sensor. The main camera has Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) support. There is a center punch hole cut out 12.6MP front camera for capturing stunning selfies and video chats. The camera offers a bunch of customizations to achieve excellent photographic quality. The phone ships with an aluminum lens cap- to close the rear camera setup when not in use.
Under the hood, the Leica Leitz Phone 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage which is expandable up to 1TB via micro-SD card. The smartphone runs on Android 12 based on Leica Custom UI. It packs a 5,000mAh battery and has wireless charging support.

The Leica Leitz Phone costs 225,360 Japanese Yen/ $1,622. But there’s a catch, the smartphone is made exclusively for the Japanese market and is available from Softbank. The smartphone will go for sale from November 18 in Japan.
